Do you come from a Circus or Show Business background?
Yes, My Family has been in the circus for eight generations.
Tell us about yourself and your background!
Tell us about yourself and what kind of act or acts you perform or have performed?
I grew up working on my Dad and Mom's show (the Hanneford Family Circus). My sister, Cathy Carden and I performed in and worked on the show in the summer and whenever school was out for holidays. I was taught comedy and straight bareback riding by my father, George Hanneford Jr. I learned how to clown from some of the best in the business including Alfredo Landon, Danny Chapman, Joe Sherman, Johnny Peers and Zapato. We did mainly fair and large carnival dates under canvas. In 1989 we started what would turn into a 16 year run as the main attraction at the Ft. Lauderdale Swap Shop, showcasing hundreds of the finest circus acts from around the world, until 2005. Since then I have been performing on various shows with my family's elephants.Throughout the years I have worn many different "hats" in the circus.I've been a comedy bareback rider, clown, ringmaster, exotic and domestic animal trainer/handler/care provider/groom,show manager, HR director,my sister and I did a trampoline act and dog act as kids and when we had the tent I was the backup stake driver ;)

Hi George
I was in Lake George last week and stopped by your family's old house. I have a photo of HANNEFORD ROAD. What is your email and I will send it.
Hello George. Many thanks for joining me as friend here on circuspace. As there are not many, if any elephant acts here in England, its a pleasure to see your photos. I would say that i like to see elephant acts.. I am looking for photos and or a dvd of a elephant act where the girl hangs by her leg from the elephants mouth. I saw this some time ago and i hav never seen it since. Hope to hear from you soon. Best wishes Terry.
